What are Regional Championships?
Because COVID-19 has made it impossible to host our usual large-scale World Championship, the Regional Championships allow athletes to receive a smaller-scale World Championship experience while funneling the best of the best to the World Championship. Throughout the season, athletes have been qualifying for Regional Championships based on the hosting facility’s region. Athletes are able to qualify for and attend as many Regional Championships as they choose to.
Who qualifies for the World Championships?
Athletes qualify in one of two ways:
*Qualifications will happen on a first-come, first-serve basis . Athletes sitting in a potential qualifying spot that attend a regional championship before their region stops counting points and announces qualifiers may earn a qualifying spot at the regional championship they are attending. If they qualify at an earlier region and are still in a points qualifying spot, their points qualifying spot will bump down to the next eligible athlete.
- Being in the top 5 per division per Home Region of Season VI points. The athlete’s Home Region is based on the region in which the athlete resides. Points are accrued on a national basis, so competitions outside their region still count toward their point total. These point totals are locked once all qualifying events in that region have concluded (i.e. the week before the Regional Championship).
- Being in the top 5 per division of any Regional Championship. If an athlete in the top 5 has already qualified, qualifying spots will bump down to the next available athlete just as they always have.

How do Regional Championships differ from NNL qualifying events?
Like traditional NNL qualifying events, this will be a one-stage course with athletes scored based on advancing the furthest the fastest. However, there are a few slight changes. The price range will be $80-100, and the NNL will approve all regional courses two weeks prior to the event. Additionally, hosting facilities must publicly announce their COVID policies when opening registration (and, as always, must follow local laws and policies).
