Athletic Code of Conduct

I. Introduction
Because children often attend NNL events and watch NNL live broadcasts, individuals participating with the NNL must act as model citizens and uphold a Standard of Excellence and Sportsmanship. In addition, individuals must conform to the standards listed below in both the Criminal Acts, Convictions, and Registries section as well as the Other Conduct section.

II. Standard of Excellence and Sportsmanship
In order to adhere to this standard of excellence, individuals  must not:
  1. use vulgar or profane language
  2. engage in conduct that could reasonably be deemed abusive, intimidating, bullying, mocking, or embarrassing
  3. attempt to improperly influence any individual responsible for judging or administering a competition
  4. interfere with other individuals  while they are on the course
  5. steal or damage the property of the hosting facility
  6. wear clothing that violates the dress code set by the NNL or the facility

In addition, the NNL expects all individuals  to:

  1. treat everyone at the event with respect
  2. maintain good sportsmanship under all circumstances
III. Criminal Acts, Convictions, and Registries
Individuals must comply with all applicable criminal codes while competing. In addition, an individual may not compete in the NNL if they have done any of the following:
  1. been deemed a sex offender by any state or federal jurisdiction
  2. been convicted of, or plead guilty or no contest to, a criminal charge or indictment directly or indirectly relating to sexual misconduct or child abuse
  3. been listed on any state or federal sexual offender list or registry
  4. violated a law or regulation specifically designed to protect minors
  5. committed an act that could reasonably be deemed an act of sexual misconduct, child abuse, or conduct endangering a minor

IV. Other Conduct
While many aspects of conduct can be predicted, there are always unforeseen situations. Because of this, the National Ninja League board of directors reserves the right to temporarily or permanently remove and/or ban individuals from participating in NNL events for any reason.

V. Adult & Minor Interactions
Coaches and other Administrators may spend large amounts of time and develop close bonds with students. It is important that adults affiliated with the ninja follow our policies listed below to maintain a professional relationship with students:

  • Don’t text minors one on one
  • Don’t call minors without another coach or guardian on the line
  • Don’t train one on one with a minor
  • Don’t travel one on one with a minor

VI. Mandatory Reporters
A report must be made if a coach, administrator or parent suspects or has reason to believe a child has been abused or neglected. This may include child sexual abuse, sexual misconduct, non-consensual sexual conduct, sexual harassment, intimate relations involving an imbalance of power, or any form of emotional/physical misconduct such as bullying or hazing similarly, if a reporter has knowledge of or observes a child being subjected to, conditions that would reasonably harm the child.

Administrators fulfilling roles within the NNL or an NNL affiliated facility are required to report all cases of potential child abuse to our administration.

If you are a mandatory reporter, you may also be required to report suspected child abuse or child sexual abuse to law enforcement, in addition to reporting to the NNL.
